Senior Alpine and Alpine type does (milking)

MLGH Wade's Awesome Oreo

Picture
Last Pregnancy 2013 and had twin bucks.
When we first wanted goats it was just for family milk.  So we bought two milkers, Sally and Pansey, from a lady who has now become a dear friend.  After a few months our friend called and said they were selling the rest of the herd, 3 more goats.  So we bought them too.  Oreo was one of those and was also a dear friend to Sally.  Eventually the two of them took over the herd and ruled for many of our years with goats.  Sally is gone now and Oreo is 12 years old.  She is no longer out with the strong goats of the herd and spends time with the yearlings and kids.  She is pretty much a loner and has always been my super high strung goat.  Little things upset her and she makes sure I know if anything strange is going on in the barn.
When we first learned about registering goats  we found out that a goat can be brought into the registration books by a process know as recorded grade.  I had an alpine breeder evaluate both Sally and Oreo and write a letter to the ADGA (American Dairy Goat Association) saying that she looked like an Alpine, and conformed to the breed standard (shape of head, type of ears, color and size) and requesting she be registered NOA (native on appearance).  That gave Oreo papers and a 0% pure blood standard.  When I bred her  to a registered Alpine buck her daughter would be 50%, granddaughters 75% and great grand daughters would be 100% and considered American Alpine. Providing all came from registered Alpine bucks.  It's a long process but we are so happy to know that our Sally and Oreo daughters, grand daughters, and great grand daughters are with us and have become American Alpines to start our American Herd with.  These sweet backyard goats will be with us always.

This doe is currently milking  a gallon a day.  Her mother gave more than a gallon a day last year freshening at age 11.  Anise has potential to be a huge milker at just a year old herself.  Her jr LA score was +++(+)
